5 Must-See SUVs from Volvo’s 2020 Lineup

If there’s one vehicle that’s becoming increasingly more popular every year, it’s the SUV. Drivers absolutely love SUVs, and automakers are working hard to keep up with the demand. This means there are more SUVs to choose from in every shape, style, and size. And some of the most exciting options are available from Volvo.

Volvo has a long history of creating standout vehicles. And the 2020 SUVs released by Volvo aren’t breaking with tradition. These new SUVs are tech-savvy, feature the latest driver assistance and safety technology, and offer a wide array of options and customizations. With small and sporty crossovers, full-size SUVs, and even hybrids in its lineup for 2020, Volvo offers every kind of SUV a driver could want. And you can learn more about these impressive luxury vehicles by searching online.

Check out five must-see SUVs everyone should check out from Volvo.

  • MSRP: Starts at $33,700.

The 2020 XC40 is the smallest SUV in the Volvo lineup. But that doesn’t mean you should skip over this model. The 2020 Volvo XC40 is fresh, modern, and sport in both its styling and its drive. It features some of the clearest hallmarks of Swedish design – a comfortable, spacious interior and a wide array of bins and storage cubbies throughout the vehicle. The new XC40 is compact but hip, and younger drivers will love its design.

You can choose between the front-wheel drive T4 model, which is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine or the all-wheel drive T5 model, which is powered by a turbo-four engine. You’ll get 184 of 248 horsepower from these engines. Inside the cabin, the seats are comfortable and there’s plenty of room for both passengers and cargo. Additionally, every XC40 comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. If you opt for a higher trim than the base, you can enjoy cool features like an automatically dimming rearview mirror, heated windshield wiper blades, and a panoramic roof.

  • MSRP: Starts at $40,150.

The 2020 Volvo XC60 is a slightly bigger SUV than the XC40, but it’s still considered a compact SUV. And surprisingly, it shares a lot in common with the larger XC90. The newest version of the XC60 looks like a premium SUV right at first glance, thanks to elegant and sharp design cues. Under the hood, drivers can choose between two different powertrains: a turbocharged T5 or a turbo- and supercharged T8. Both are variations on the classic Volvo 2.0-liter engine, but they offer different levels of power for different driving needs.

Where the 2020 XC60 really shines, though, is in its long list of standard and optional features. You’ll get a lot to enjoy if you opt for the base model, and you’ll discover even cooler features if you opt for a higher trim. Technology is at the heart of all the XC60’s features, and the centerpieces of the interior are a 12.3-inch digital gauge display and a 9.0-inch infotainment display.

And you can’t forget about safety inside the 2020 XC60. This Volvo SUV includes many standard driver assistance features. You’ll get automated emergency braking, active-steering assist, and lane-keep assist. Adaptive cruise control and semi-autonomous driving mode are both optional and available. Some models even include rear parking sensors, a self-parking feature, and more.

  • MSRP: Starts at $48,350.

If you want style, capability, and functionality all rolled into one modern, cutting-edge vehicle, you’ll love the 2020 Volvo XC90. This SUV is a design powerhouse – it’s considered one of the most stylish luxury SUVs available. It’s also more powerful than Volvo’s smaller SUV, with two four-cylinder powertrain options to choose from. And you can customize your XC90 to suit your needs, whether that’s with additional high-tech features or the seating setup.

The XC90 is great for anyone who needs to carry plenty of passengers. It can be purchased in different six- or seven-passenger configurations. Inside the cabin, drivers and passengers will all love the high-quality materials like nappa leather, real wood trim, and chrome accents. It includes the same digital instrument gauge and infotainment screen as other models. But where the 2020 XC90 really stands out is with front parking sensors, active-steering assist, and other top-of-the-line safety features.

  • MSRP: Starts at $54,595.

Volvo now gives drivers the choice of buying a 2020 XC60 with a hybrid powertrain. And if you want a hybrid that combines luxury and great performance, this is one of the best SUVs. Powered by the Volvo T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, the engine delivers 400 horsepower and 20 miles of electric range. It has an EPA rating of 27 mpg,  which gives you more mileage for your fuel. It’s also an increase over past years’ hybrid SUVs.

The 2020 XC60 Hybrid is also as luxurious and feature-filled as any other Volvo SUV. It stands out with an elegant exterior and interior, and the seating inside is spacious. There’s a long list of available features, even on the base model. You can enjoy a 9-inch touchscreen display, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, massaging front seats, forward collision mitigation, and both lane departure warning and lane-keep assist.

  • MSRP: Starts at $67,000.

Like the XC60, the 2020 Volvo XC90 is available with a hybrid powertrain. It packs all the same perks and benefits of the traditional XC90, but it can offer a more fuel-conscious and eco-friendly driving alternative. Under the hood, the XC90 is powered by a four-cylinder engine and T8 powertrain – with an electric battery in addition to fuel, of course. It delivers 400 horsepower, 472 pound-feet of torque, and an excellent fuel economy estimate.

The XC90 Hybrid did get a few updates for the 2020 model year. The exterior styling has been refreshed a bit, and the brakes and suspension are now smoother. If you choose the Momentum or Inscription model, you can opt for a six passenger seating configuration. And inside the cabin, you’ll notice the dashboard and instrument panel have gotten sleeker and simpler. Although there are a ton of modern driver and safety technologies in this SUV, you’ll be able to easily take control with a minimalist digital instrument panel and an easy-to-use infotainment system.
